The Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Florida Southern College invites applications for tenure track appointment as a full-time, Assistant Professor of Criminology (#868). The position will begin in August 2024. A Ph.D. in criminology or criminal justice by the time of the appointment is required; A.B.D. will be considered if completion is assured prior to the beginning of Fall 2024 semester. The selected candidate will teach three 4-credit hour courses per semester. The ideal candidate will be expected to teach Introduction to Criminal Justice and Criminology. Preference will be given to candidates who can also teach Judicial Processes / Criminal Law (with particular emphasis on the Impact of U.S. Supreme Court decisions on the criminal justice process), Policing, and Juvenile Delinquency. Prior teaching experience in these areas will be advantageous. The successful candidate will possess a passion for student-centered learning and student engagement, collegiality, and concern for students, all of which the candidate’s application should demonstrate.
